Ali Farag is the World #2 and second seed for the 2018 Qatar Classic.
Since graduating from Harvard University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2014, Farag has established himself as one of the most popular players on the tour.
A lone title came in 2012 before the Egyptian had to wait over two years for his next piece of silverware at the M25 title.
Farag broke new ground at the Motor City Open in January 2016, beating Mohamed El Shorbagy and three-time world champion Nick Matthew en route to a maiden PSA M70 title.
And he made history last year in Philadelphia when he claimed his biggest ever title on the tour just moments after wife Nour El Tayeb had lifted the women’s title, meaning the pair became the first married couple in sporting history ever to win the same major sports title on the same day.
At the 2017 Hong Kong Open, he made all the way through to the final before stopped by El Shorbagy after five games. He reached the following World Championship semi-finals and this time it was Marvan El Shorbagy that did the damage. Marvan also prevailed over him when they met again at the 2018 El Gouna International final while Mohamed then defeated him again in the final of the 2018 World Series Finals in Dubai.
